Somber
I was asked to photograph the memorial service for a beloved mother.
It is traditional in many cultures to pay respect, and remember their loved ones with photographs not merely in life, but also in death.
The service was beautiful, the family was wonderful and welcoming, and it was not at all the experience a photojournalist is typically faced with when shooting an event of this magnitude. In general a photojournalist is at a funeral for very different reasons, and many times not at all welcome.
I was honored to be asked to share these last moments, and with the family’s permission would like to share a peaceful moment with you.
